Barriga defeated by Kazakh boxer, protest denied

After the Filipino boxer Mark Anthony Barriga lost to Kazakhstan's Birzhan Zhakypov via a controversial score 16-17, in the Round of 16 in the London Olympics 2012, the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines or ABAP executive director Ed Picson filed a protest for the reason that the two points awarded to Zhakypov should be voided since a boxer must be warned two times first before incurring a penalty on the third offense. Thus, Philippines' Barriga should have won by 1 point, 16-15, since it was only his first warning from the referee Roland Nabbe . However, the protest was rejected due to subjective reason and not by technicality, according to the jury.
