The U.K.'s Financial Services Authority said Thursday that Goldman Sachs Group Inc. agreed to pay a fine of £17.5 million ($27.1 million) for failing to make disclosures about trader Fabrice Tourre.

Mr. Tourre is the London-based trader at Goldman who was accused of fraud in an April lawsuit by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Goldman agreed in July to pay $550 million to settle SEC civil charges against the company, but Mr. Tourre is fighting the allegations.

Honda Launches Stunning Brochure For The CR-Z On iPhone, iPad: Is This How The Web Ends?

The truth is, half the digital advertising campaigns we see aren't very good. In fact, more than half. Most are terrible or senseless or both. But the new digital brochure for the Honda CR-Z is different: not only is it a thing of beauty, but it could signal the death of websites as we know them.

When we first heard about Honda's new piece, we weren't terribly excited. In fact, we groaned. We've seen similar stunts done for other cars, and they've all been fairly wishy-washy. (And "wishy-washy" is being kind.) Expecting the worst, we clicked over to the "CR-Z Experience" website to give it a whirl.

Facebook closes door for spammers

acebook has closed a hole that was being used by spammers to automatically post wall messages and direct messages to friends.

Just clicking on the link to one of the applications that were taking advantage of the bug would allow the auto-posting to happen, Facebook said on Tuesday. The apps, which appeared to be sending people to a survey web site, were disabled on Monday.

"Earlier this week, we discovered a bug that made it possible for an application to bypass our normal CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protections through a complicated series of steps. We quickly worked to resolve the issue and fixed it within hours of discovering it," Facebook said in a statement. "For a short period of time before it was fixed, several applications that violated our policies were able to post content to people's profiles if those people first clicked on a link to the application."

Stake of eBay in Craigslist restored after triumphant court decision

The world’s largest online auction website, eBay, just announced late this afternoon that a Delaware Court ruled in favor for the company in a lawsuit that involved the dilution of its investment in rival company Craigslist.

The lawsuit was initiated in 2008, and alleged majority Craigslist stockholders, and the company founders Mr. Buckmaster and Mr. Newmark, unlawfully undertook transactions that unfairly diluted eBay’s minority share in Cragslist.

eBay Inc. made an initial investment in the classifieds giant in August of 2004, although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, other than the fact that eBay earned a marginal 25-percent stake in the company after buying out the shares of an exiting executive.

eBay says the ruling today restores the firms investment in Craigslist and preserves value to eBay shareholders.

eBay now currently holds a non-controlling 28.4-percent total stake in the company.

How Much Faster Is Google Instant?

Google Instant likes to think it's pretty fast, but how fast is it really? We pitted regular old Google against Google Instant, complete with its time-saving shortcuts, for a head-to-head comparison.

To make this as accurate and fair of a comparison as possible, we restricted our typing speed 240 key presses per minute. That's four key presses per second, or what comes out to somewhere around 50 words per minute—a moderate typing speed for the average person. Key presses mean any key, so invoking a shortcut counts. The winner was determined when Google was sure it found the correct result.
