Bitcoin Rally Fails After Breaking Through $12,000

Bitcoin prices have rallied modestly within the last 24 hours, rising to their highest in roughly two weeks before losing momentum.

The world’s most prominent digital currency reached as much as $12,070.23 earlier today, its loftiest price since August 18, CoinDesk data shows.

However, the cryptocurrency’s upward price movement stalled, and the digital asset has been trading within a reasonably tight range, additional CoinDesk figures reveal.

Joe DiPasquale, CEO of cryptocurrency hedge fund manager BitBull Capital, weighed in on the matter.

“$12,000 has continued to be a strong resistance for Bitcoin but the bulls have persisted over the last month, rallying around the $11,000 level to provide strong support,” said DiPasquale.

Women’s Retailer J. Jill Has 10 Days to Avoid Bankruptcy Filing

 J. Jill Inc. has just 10 days to get permission from the vast majority of its lenders for a deal that would extend the struggling retailer’s debt maturities, excuse it from financial covenants and give it fresh cash.

The company said in a statement Tuesday that it plans to file for bankruptcy if it fails to get lenders holding 95% of its term loans on board with the plan by Sept. 11. It’s struck a deal with lenders holding 70% of the debt to extend certain debt maturities to 2024, grant a financial covenant holiday and provide for at least $15 million of new cash in the form of a junior term loan.

If the Quincy, Massachusetts-based company files for bankruptcy, the company has an accord with lenders to get at least $75 million of debtor-in-possession financing that will convert to a term loan.

The pandemic forced the women’s clothing retailer to temporarily close its more than 280 U.S. stores in March. Lenders agreed to hold off on taking immediate action against the company after it violated terms of its loans, J. Jill said in a June news release.

Wall Street has gone gaga for Zoom Video Communications (ZM) after its latest revenue report, to say the very least. And all indications point to the Street staying united in that optimism, despite an eye-popping price-to-earnings multiple of 232 times forward earnings.

Analysts hopped onto Zoom’s second quarter earnings call Monday night and congratulated execs for developing an essential communication tool to be used during a pandemic. JMP Securities analyst Pat Walravens pointed out to Yahoo Finance’s The First Trade his school age daughter got on the call and explained to founder Eric Yuan why Zoom is better than Google’s Hangout video conference offering.

Count Walravens as among nearly 50% of primary Zoom analysts (this group has Buy ratings on Zoom’s stock) on the Street that remain super bullish on the company’s prospects and stock.

“I have been doing this for 20 years, and I have never seen a story like this one. And it shows you the power of a really well-run company with a good mission that has exactly the service everyone needs in a crisis,” Walravens said.

Bitcoin Breakdown Looks Real, $6.2K On The Horizon?

• Bitcoin price is down around 4% and it broke the key $7,000 support against the US Dollar.
• The price is likely to continue lower towards $6,500 or $6,200 in the near term.
• There is a short term contracting triangle forming with resistance near $6,880 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair (data feed from Kraken).
• The pair could gather momentum once it breaks the $6,800 support area.

Bitcoin (BTC) price is showing signs of bearish continuation below $6,800 against the US Dollar. BTC bears seems to be eyeing a test of the $6,500 support or $6,200.

Bitcoin Price Analysis

After consolidating above the $7,000 support, bitcoin bears gained strength against the US Dollar. As a result, BTC price nosedived below the $7,000 support and settled well below the 100 hourly simple moving average.

The price is down around 4% and it even broke the $6,880 support area. A new monthly low is formed near $6,800 and the price is currently consolidating losses.

An immediate resistance is near the $6,880 level. Besides, the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent downward move from the $7,135 high to $6,800 low is also near the $6,880 area.

More importantly, there is a short term contracting triangle forming with resistance near $6,880 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. Therefore, an upside break above $6,880 level might start a short term upside correction.

The next resistance is near the $6,980 level. Additionally, the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent downward move from the $7,135 high to $6,800 low is also near the $6,980 level.

However, the main resistance is seen near the $7,000 and $7,015 levels (the recent breakdown zone). A successful daily close above $7,015 is needed to start a substantial recovery in the near term.

Conversely, the price is likely to accelerate lower below the $6,840 and $6,820 levels. If bitcoin breaks the $6,800 low, the next stop for the bears could be near $6,600 or $6,500.

Any further losses may perhaps lead the price towards the key $6,200 support area, where the bulls are likely to take a stand.

UK Credit and debit card fraud 'falls to 10-year low'

Fraud losses on UK credit and debit cards fell to the lowest level for a decade in 2010 as awareness of the issue increased. The amount lost still reached £365.4m, but this was 17% lower than the previous year, the UK Cards Association said. The biggest drop was in the amount lost through cloned or skimmed cards, which fell by 41%.
