Marcus Smart is just the 6th player in NBA playoff history to log at least 24 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals in a game. The others: Larry Bird, LeBron James, Rod Strickland, Isiah Thomas, Russell Westbrook
World champion: Magnificent Amy Broadhurst wins gold for Ireland in Istanbul: The Dundalk woman joins Katie Taylor, Michael Conlan and Kellie Harrington as a World Championship gold medal winner. IT WAS THE greatest half an hour of Irish boxing since Wayne McCullough and Michael Carruth claimed silver and gold respectively at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. On this occasion, however, both Irish protagonists took top honours: Amy Broadhurst and Lisa O’Rourke penned their names into this country’s short list of World Boxing Championship gold medal winners — which until this week included only Katie Taylor, Michael Conlan and Kellie Harrington. Three became five in Istanbul. Just minutes after Dundalk woman Broadhurst, 25, fairly handily beat Algerian opponent Imane Khelif on a 5-0 unanimous decision in their light-welterweight (63kg) decider, Roscommon’s O’Rourke earned a hard-fought 4-1 split over Mozambique’s Alcinda Panguane in the light-middleweight (70kg) showpiece. As well as gold medals, each fighter will take home with them €86,000 in prize money. Both Broadhurst and O’Rourke will also be granted funding of €40,000 from Sport Ireland next year, reward for a World Championship podium finish of any kind. The supremely talented southpaw Broadhurst counts in her personal trophy cabinet 19 Irish titles and five continental medals, including bronze at the 2019 Europeans as a fully fledged Elite. However, she has in recent years operated in the shadows of the world-ruling Harrington, who has Boradhurst’s preferred weight division of lightweight — 60kg, an Olympic category — locked down. Or at least, she had. With Olympic champ Harrington having been entered into these World Championships until an injury ruled her out days before the tournament, Broadhurst competed again up at light-welter, just as she did when she was controversially denied a medal at the 2018 Worlds. That quarter-final robbery in New Delhi is but a distant memory, now.

Tonight (December 19th) from The Alamodome in San Antonio, Canelo Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) takes on WBA super-middleweight champion Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KOs). The WBC belt is also at stake so we’ll have a unified champion by the end of the night. Alvarez is the comfortable favorite but make no mistake about it, Smith is a damn good fighter and taller than the Mexican superstar by six inches. Unlike Sergey Kovalev, Smith is also in his prime.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, 54, will go against former four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr., 51.
Tyson, the former heavyweight world champion, is considered one of the most feared boxers of all time. He finished his first year as a professional boxer with a 15-0 record, with all wins coming by knockout. "Iron Mike" was 20 years and four months old when he became the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history. He has a 50-6 career record, with 44 of the 50 victories coming on knockouts. He last fought in 2005, when he lost to Kevin McBride. Jones Jr. is a former world champion who sports a 66-9 record. Jones Jr. won his last bout in 2018 against Scott Sigmon. "I'm happy. I get to see what it's like to be in the ring with Mike Tyson before I die," Jones Jr. told CNN. "I'll get the best wishes of my life."
The four-hour live event will take place on Saturday, November 28 at 9 p.m. ET at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Right now, the lightweight division is on fire with Teofimo Lopez Jr. and Gervonta Davis notching big wins in the last couple of weeks. Now, it's time for another rising star in the 135-pound weight class to make a statement as Devin Haney puts the WBC title on the line against former unified featherweight titleholder Yuriorkis Gamboa on Saturday from the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood, Florida. Haney (24-0 15 KOs) steps back into the ring for the first time since November 2019 when he defeated Alfredo Santiago to defend his championship for the first time successfully on the Logan Paul-KSI undercard. Following the fight, Haney went on to have right shoulder surgery. Haney had targeted bouts with Adrien Broner and Gary Russell Jr., but Gamboa was the one willing to step up to the plate and challenge the 21-year-old. Haney knows Gamboa has been through the ringer with some of the best the sport has to offer. Without question, Gamboa (30-3 18 KOs) is Haney's toughest date to date. The Cuban is a 2004 Olympic gold medalist and faced pound-for-pound great Crawford and Davis.

Gervonta Davis (23-0, 22 KOs), who holds a secondary WBA title at 135 pounds, will move back down to junior lightweight to take on the current WBA champion at 130 pounds in Leo Santa Cruz (37-1-1, 19 KOs). This marks the first fight in which titles at different weights were both at stake since Floyd Mayweather defeated Marcos Maidana in their 147-pound rematch. The 32-year-old Santa Cruz will look to become just the sixth fighter in boxing history to win world titles in five different divisions.
