Arizona Election Results: John McCain Defeats J.D. Hayworth In GOP Senate Primary

After funneling $21 million into his campaign, Arizona Sen. John McCain successfully withstood a primary challenge from former U.S. Congressman J.D. Hayworth on Tuesday night.

Once labeled a vulnerable incumbent, the four-term Arizona Republican was the clear front-runner against Hayworth going into the race in which he cast his opponent as a late-night infomercial huckster in a series of devastating ads.

"I have stood up and led the fight as a fiscal conservative and a leader on national defense and a strong supporter of the men and women who are fighting and sacrificing for this nation," McCain told a woman who questioned his record at a town hall meeting last week.

Long unpopular with some home-state conservatives, McCain immediately recognized the threat posed by Hayworth, a talk-radio host and former six-term congressman from Scottsdale. And he set out to neutralize it. McCain also realized that the anti-establishment fervor could cost him his seat in the primary; it already had claimed two other senators -- Republican Bob Bennett of Utah and Democrat Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania.

Hoopz (Nicole Alexander) and Shaq Engaged?

Some of you may remember a girl with the nickname Hoopz if you watched the “Flavor of Love” follow up called “Flavor of Love, I Love Money.” Hoopz, aka Nicole Alexander, actually won the reality television show, and walked away with $250,000 in cash. Over the last few months there have been reports that Boston Celtic Center, Shaquille O’Neal and Hoopz had been spending a lot of time together. Many people believed the two were dating, however, all the rumors shot up a notch Monday Night.

According to Sam and Majdolin David, the owners of the Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine and Hookah Lounge in Bridgeton, Shaq, another man, and three females showed up around 11:30 pm. Shaq placed a chair on the middle of the dance floor and then place a ring on the finger of one of the females, believed to be Hoopz. Sam David stated, “I think he may have proposed to his girlfriend. He brought a chair into the middle of the dance floor and he put a ring on her finger.”

Whether the proposal was legitimate, or even to Hoopz, is yet to be confirmed, although it seems to be the case. This morning the two were spotted at a Tennessee Waffle House. Shaquille O’Neal recently got a divorce from his wife of 7 years, Shaunie O’Neal.
